We discussed the importance of infrastructure in developing countries. Without adequate infrastructure, developing countries are unable to advance at a faster way. Infrastructure provides a foundation for technological learning, faciliates trade and intragration into world markers and helps grow the local expertise. Infrastructure is essential for development of academic and research institutions. Stable infrastructure will also attract foreign investment. Adequate infrastructure will also increase employment and increase the development of small and medium sized businesses. African countries need to be capable to develop, operate and maintain infrastructure services.
In addtion, we also talked about the seriousness of plagiarism. All sources and quotations must be properly cited. We also can not submit the same paper to two classes, this is call self plagierism.

  1. I agree with you, Yun. Infrastructures are indeed essential for the development of any country. So, we felt that one efficient way of helping poor countries is by developing their infrastructures. Once development process starts with a strong infrastructural base, developing countries can continue development without foreign support as infrastructures and actual development reinforce each other.
In the class, we also discussed the possibility of harnessing enthusiasm and drive of young professional engineers in developing technological infrastructures in the developing countries. And the concept of flex-fuel engine developed by Brazil seemed promising as it can be run with ethanol and is more environment-friendly.

  2. I agree with all the points you brought up Yun. Infrastructure is vital for a country to start rebuilding itself and developing new technologies. Without proper central structure, plans for development are often not followed through with or done properly. Building on what Yun stated, foreign investment must be utilized more but cannot be implemented without stable infrastructure. Additionally, emphasis on primary education in turn can lead to bringing about adequate infrastructure. Educating people about technological infrastructures can lead to developing advancements in many fields.
